MONGE VETSOLUTION OBESITY CANINE is a complete dietetic feed formulated for the reduction of excessive body weight in dogs. MON- GE VETSOLUTION OBESITY contains Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD) to prevent oxidative stress, psyllium seed husks to delay gastric emp- tying and induce satiety, Xylo-oligosaccharides (XOS) to secure the intestinal microbiota and it is formulated with low energy density.

Fit-aroma® in MONGE VETSOLUTION CANINE OBESITY contains Psyllium husks which delay gastric emptying, hence simulates satiety. In dogs, gastric emptying time after fasting ranges from 405 to 897 min- utes, and is longer in large breed dogs than in smaller dogs. The degree of gastrointestinal fill is one of the most important signals from the digestive tract, to induces satiety.

Psyllium husks are a mixture of neutral and acid polysaccharides with a soluble/insoluble fibre ratio of 70/30. As a bulking fibre, once ingested, Psyllium husks absorb water and transform the contents of the intestine into a gel-like matter. This reduces the enzymatic activity on starch and slows down the rate of digestion. The sensitivity of the small intestinal chemoreceptors provides a mechanism by which the passage of nutrients through the small intestine exerts an increasingly strong inhibitory effect on the rate of gastric emptying, thus delaying food intake.

The Psyllium husks are grinded and integrated during the coating step of the manufacturing process, in order to optimize efficiency without impact- ing product palatability.
