Fit-aroma® in MONGE VETSOLUTION CANINE DIABETIC contains fenugreek. Trigonelline, a major alkaloid component of fenugreek, has hypoglycaemic activities. It acts by affecting ß cell regeneration, insulin secretion and activities of enzymes related to the metabolism of glucose. The aminoacid 4-hydroxyisoleucine, so far found only in fenugreek, has anti-diabetic properties. It enhances insulin secretion under hyperglycae- mic conditions and increases the sensitivity for insulin. Fenugreek seeds contain 45.4% dietary fibre (32,1% insoluble and 13,3% soluble). The gum is composed of galactose and mannose which are associated with reduced glycaemia.

Fenugreek extract exerts its anti-diabetic and neuroprotective effects, me- diated through a decrease in hyperglycaemia and oxidative stress thereby ameliorating the control and management of diabetic complications. In experimental diabetes fenugreek extract effectively reverses diabetic al- terations. Trigonella foenum-graecum, apart from controlling the blood glucose levels, also has antioxidant potential to protect the organs such as liver and pancreas against the oxidative damage induced by diabetes. It improves the activities of antioxidants and declines significantly the levels of TBARS (Thiobarbituric Acid Reactive Substances), markers of oxidative stress.


CARBOHYDRATES: By limiting carbohydrate intake, glyceamia is main- tained through hepatic gluconeogenesis with a more gradual and steady release of glucose into the bloodstream.

FATS AND PROTEINS: Reduced intake of fat, but high content of essential fatty acids. It helps to minimize the risk of pancreatitis, control hyperlipidae- mia and reduce caloric intake to promote weight loss. High protein intake, limiting caloric intake and limitng the lost of lean body mass.

FIBERS: Dietary fibers promote the glycemic control. Soluble fibers slow down the absorption of intestinal glucose, slowing down the transit of the ileum.
